Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs

Program Description
The Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs Scholarship of $1,250 is award to qualified residents of Massachusetts for their second, third or fourth year of undergraduate studies in the United States. Three scholarships are available. Funding is for academic year 2008-2009.

Eligibility
United States citizens of Polish descent and Polish citizens with permanent residency status in the United States residing in Massachusetts who will be engaged in second, third or fourth year of undergraduate studies during academic year 2008-2009.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Qualified residents of New England will be considered if no applicants from Massachusetts apply. This scholarship is non-renewable. Only one member per immediate family may receive a Massachusetts Federation of Polish Women's Clubs Scholarship during any given academic year.

Selection Criteria
Selection is based on academic excellence, the applicant's academic achievements, interests, motivation, interest in Polish subjects and involvement in the Polish American community. Financial need is taken into consideration.

Application Procedure

  • Application forms are available from October through December 30.
  • Deadline is on or before Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
  • Submit a non-refundable application fee of $35 and all supporting materials to the Kosciuszko Foundation. Submit the documents as a completed packet, not seperately, on or before the deadline date.
  • Completed Tuition Scholarship application form and Financial Information page. Applications may be obtained from the Kosciuszko Foundation.
  • A personal statement. In detail, discuss your academic goals, career goals, and the major you are pursuing.
  • Two passport-size photos for publication purposes. Print your full name on the reverse side of each.
  • Official transcripts for the last three full years of school work through Summer 2007. Fall 2007 coursework will not be considered.
  • Two confidential letters of academic reference from professors / teachers submitted on letterhead.
  • Provide proof of Polish ancestry. Use birth certificates, passports, naturalization papers and other documents to show the line of descent from the ancestor to the applicant who was born in Poland. Include a cover page outling your Polish heritage. If documentation is not available, a letter from a prominent member of the community verifying your Polish ancestry will be accepted. Letters from relatives are not accepted.
