Chamber Series Inaugural Concert

Paderewski Trio to Perform.

Chopin's rarely-heard Piano Trio in G Minor is the featured work in the concert by the PADEREWSKI TRIO Sunday, October 31, at 3 PM at the Kosciuszko Foundation (15 East 65th Street, between Fifth and Madison Avenues). The program includes trios by Shostakovich and contemporary Armenian composer Arno Babajanian. Candice Agree, of WQXR-FM, will be hosting the event. Tickets are $30 ($25 for KF members) and include a reception and discussion with the artists after the concert. You can reserve your place by calling (212) 734-2130.

The Paderewski Trio is made up of Rafal Jezierski, cellist; Krzysztof Kuznik, violinist; and Martin Labazevitch, pianist. Winners of the 32nd Artists International Annual Debut Prize, they will be presented at Weill Hall on November 7, 2004. They made their New York debut at the Kosciuszko Foundation in October 2003.
Born in Poznan, Poland, Rafal Jezierski, Cello, first studied with his father, a professional cellist and singer. After graduating from the Manhattan School of Music, he is currently a completing his Master's Degree at The Juilliard School, where he is studying with Bonnie Hampton. Krzysztof Kuznik, Violin, graduated from both the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and the Manhattan School of Music. A founding member of the Elsner String Quartet, he is currently on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music and frequently performs with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Born in Poland, pianist Martin Labazevitch studied at the Odessa Conservatory before moving to New York and the Manhattan School of Music, where he is a scholarship student of Nina Svetlanova.

Now in its fifteenth season, the Kosciuszko Foundation’s Chamber Music Series is acknowledged as one of the most distinguished in New York. Concerts take place in an ideal acoustical setting, at the Foundation’s elegant townhouse, and are recorded for broadcast over WQXR-FM.

Future concerts this year include the Verdehr Trio (November 21) and a special holiday concert with the Gregg Smith Singers (December 21).
