"Strawberry Wine" is a screen adaptation of "The Galician Tales" by Andrzej Stasiuk. This film bridges the realism of everyday life with the realm of magical aura and a tint of humor. It takes place in the heart of Europe where, just like seasons, love, crime, and repentance are natural ingredients of life.
In search of inner peace and harmony, Andrzej, the main character, abandons city life for the Galician countryside. What he finds is that this little town runs according to its own old laws. The time flows much slower, the routine bar-drinking and church-going permeate each week, yet charming enigma exudes when the time frame stops. Perhaps it's the presence of the Slovak beauty Lubica and her unconventional ways.
