Summer Studies Abroad

John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin 2010

Language courses are available from two to eight weeks.  Programs  begin in July and August. Class size is limited to 10 students affording each student personalized attention. Applicants may register for classes that range from 5 to 8 hours of language instruction daily.  Non-intensive, intensive and highly intensive classes are available.  Language classes are held Monday through Friday. A lecture on Polish history, culture or art is featured daily. All class levels meet daily from 9:00 am to 1:30 p.m. (25 hours weekly).  Intensive classes meet for an additional segment of oral practice from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. except Wednesdays (33 hours weekly).  Students enrolled in the Highly Intensive program (37 hours weekly) meet at the same times as the Intensive program and have an additional segment of time for one-to-one tutoring with an instructor.  The topic of each day's tutoring lesson is chosen by the student.  One-on-one tutoring is held between 3:00 - 3:45 or 4:00- 4:45 p.m. except Wednesdays. In the Polish academic system 1 academic hour = 45 minutes. 

PL represents non-intensive classes; PLI represents intensive classes; PLH represents highly intensive classes. The PLH course includes one-on-one tutorials in which the student chooses the focus of the lesson.

The following chart includes the arrival and return dates for each program and the program fees for each intensity level. Program fees include a shared room, 3 meals a day, course materials and cultural events and the sightseeing trips listed below the chart.

When planning your program in Lublin be sure to pay careful attention to the return date of your chosen course and the dates of any above sightseeing trip which you may be interested in and make adjustments to your return flights as needed. Housing

Included in the program fees, students live in double rooms at a student dormitory.  Bathrooms are shared. 

Single rooms are available at the dormitory for an additional fee of $10 per night.  Students who request a single room and sign up for optional trips should contact the Summer Sessions office prior to submitting an application. 

To apply for Credit

Print the a copy of this page, a Credit Approval Form (found with application materials) and submit to your academic advisor for approval. Send the completed Credit Approval Form to the Kosciuszko Foundation. Students applying for credit must attend classes and pass final exams. Please note that one academic hour equals 45 minutes.

Programs Fees Include

Tuition, a shared room, all meals and sightseeing trips of Lublin's Old Town and Kazimierz, course materials, plays and concerts.

Airfare, optional trips and single rooms are NOT included in the program fees.

To apply for a program at the JP II Catholic University of Lublin please circle KUL and indicate the number of weeks you intend to participate in the program.  Two to 8 week programs are available.  Circle PL, PLI or PLH for the level of intensity. Additional information:

A University bus is available to students arriving at F. Chopin/Okecie Airport in Warsaw through early afternoon on Sunday, July 4 and July 25.  There is no charge for this service.  Please provide us with your flight information to reserve a seat on the bus. Bus service from Lublin to Warsaw is not provided at the close of programs, however, the program administrator of the Catholic University of Lublin will provide information on request regarding various bus and train services.
