When Aleksander Dębicz performed at the Transatlantyk International Film and Music Festival in Poznań, he was hailed "the dark horse" winner of one of the most extraordinary music competitions in the world – The Instant Composer Contest. Members of the international jury included composers Dave Porter (Breaking Bad, Third Wish), film producer Zachary Matz and Peter Golub (Music Director of the Sundance Institute). Winning the ICC (in which artists improvise in front of the audience to accompany a film presented on the screen) opened the door for Dębicz to release his debut album, an eclectic yet accessible exploration of the composer-pianist's sound world. He draws from film-music predecessors as well as from light music and jazz, without ever losing the touch of the classical virtuoso.
Classic FM Album of the Week: "Dębicz is certainly an impressive player. The cinematic moods range from nostalgia and suspense to pulsing excitement, all dashed off with Dębicz's verve and virtuosity. Definitely a talent to watch.
